DICT explores Digital Cooperation with Denmark
January 23, 2023
Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary for Public Affairs and Foreign Relations Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo met with Ambassador Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin, Ambassador of Denmark to the Philippines, to discuss areas for digital cooperation.
Lamentillo said that the Philippines can learn a lot from Denmark’s approaches on cybersecurity, e-governance, digital health, and maritime digital transition.
“Denmark is well advanced in developing and using digital solutions. Danes get digital mailboxes at birth. New technological solutions help them address the capacity challenge of health worker shortage. Denmark is also a pioneer in digital shipping registries and digital certificates for seafarers on Danish flagged ships. These solutions have helped reduce administrative burdens, lower costs, and easier access to data. We hope to learn much from them in these areas,” said Lamentillo.
The DICT, under the leadership of Secretary Ivan John Uy, is exploring partnerships with other nations to further cooperation, exchange of knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices on digitalization, among other programs of the Department.
The DICT aims to provide Filipinos with the digital tools to help the economy recover and make the country more competitive, and to realize the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. of a truly digital Philippines.
