Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Anna Mae Lamentillo is committed to a vision where unemployment in the Philippines approaches zero, creating a society that is truly inclusive and equitable. As a pivotal figure in the Build, Build, Build initiative, Anna Mae has overseen transformative infrastructure projects that not only enhanced national connectivity but also generated a staggering 6.5 million jobs across the country.
Over five years, initiatives led by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under the leadership of Mark Villar have completed an extensive array of projects, including 29,264 kilometers of roads, 5,950 bridges, 11,340 flood control projects, 150,149 classrooms, 497 kilometers of cycling lanes, 222 evacuation centers, 653 COVID-19 facilities, 451 commercial, social, or tourism ports, and 5 new rail routes.
The push for full employment is more than a goal; it is a pathway to fostering an inclusive society. By ensuring that every Filipino has access to meaningful work, we reduce inequality and empower individuals to contribute actively to their communities. Anna Mae advocates not only for job creation but also for equipping the workforce with the necessary skills for the future. This includes early education in digital tools and AI, preparing young Filipinos to excel in the evolving global economy.
Reducing unemployment to near-zero levels requires comprehensive strategies. It involves investing in education and vocational training, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating an environment conducive to business growth. By leveraging the talents of returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) through initiatives like Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Anna Mae recognizes the potential to harness this workforce locally, further boosting economic growth and stability.
A society with minimal unemployment fosters social cohesion and stability. It ensures that economic prosperity is shared more equitably, lifting families out of poverty and creating opportunities for upward mobility. Anna Mae's vision for a virtually unemployment-free Philippines aligns with the principles of social justice and economic empowerment, where every Filipino can realize their full potential and contribute to the nation's prosperity.
Together, we can build a future where job opportunities abound, skills are continuously upgraded, and inclusivity is the cornerstone of our society. Anna Mae's leadership underscores our commitment to achieving this vision, paving the way for a more prosperous, resilient, and equitable Philippines for generations to come. Let us unite in this endeavor to create a brighter future where no Filipino is left behind.
